Logging and capturing data from Sartorius Balance

This data is being extracted with help of the "Advanced Serial Data Logger" software only. It may not applicable for other software titles.

M2P, CP, GC, and GP series balances are controlled via RS232 communication using a standard DB9F-DB25M cable. The default communication parameters for our weight data logging software are:
Baud Rate 1200,
Parity N,
Data Bits 7,
Stop Bits 2.

Specific menu code settings need to be configured on the balance, depending on the type. For M2P balance, set menu code C212 (output upon print command at stability). For CP, GC, and GP balances, set menu codes 211 (Weighing), 551 (SBI(ASCII)), 612 (Manual at stability), and 721 (For 16 characters raw data). Refer to the Sartorius Balance hardware manual for setting these parameters.

Cubis series balances are controlled via USB communication with an in-built FTDI USB-COM converter appearing as a COM Port in the data logger. The recommended communication parameters for Cubis series are Baud rate 19200, Parity N, Data Bits 8, Stop Bits 1, Handshake None. Ensure the settings match between the balance and the logger.

How to configure the logger for the Sartorius Balance.

1. Download and install the "Scale data parser" module.
2. Create or modify existing configuration.
3. Go to the "Modules - Query Parse Filter" page
4. Select the corresponding parser module.

Note: Your COM port settings above should match the RS232 settings on the scale.

How to capture data from USB scale or balance?

Usually the scale vendor provides a driver that can create a virtual COM port for the usb scale. Our serial data logger fully supposts virtual COM ports.
